Waking Life Assesment

Wow. This was a really interesting and thought provoking film. I enjoyed it immensly. The background music also flowed well with the movie. Everything about the movie was really fascinating. The way it was layed out and directed is just ingenious! They brought up a lot of controversial concepts and ideas.

The animators created a sense of movement in the film by having things constantly moving and changing. Sometimes the colors would go out of the lines or the ground and horizon lines would be moving. They also made the colors change a lot so that it seemed like things were always in a state of motion.They were very creative with how they got the animation to flow together.

I think they decided to use animation instead of filming actual people so that they could give visuals for things that you can’t see, like emotions. It also helped them to put many confusing things and concepts into pictures to help you understand. Like when they were talking about gears the man’s head turned into gears and when the girl on the couch was talking about what people say going in through your ear and getting processed they showed it in a way they otherwise wouldn’t have been able to.
